For a 5″ x 7″ print, the image resolution should be 1024 x 768 pixels minimum. For an 8″ x 10″ print, the image resolution should be 1536 x 1024 pixels minimum.
We have aligned our print material specifications with Fed Ex Office. With locations in communities throughout the country, Fed Ex Office provides a convenient, affordable, and quality print source. Here’s the rundown on these two printing methods, the differences, and how to choose one or the other for your print materials.
Offset printing technology uses plates, usually made from aluminum, which are used to transfer an image onto a rubber “blanket”, then roll the image onto a sheet of paper. It’s called offset because the ink is not transferred directly onto the paper. Offset printing is the best choice when larger quantities are needed, and high-quality professional printing is required.
Digital printing uses options such as toner (like in laser printers) or larger printers that do use liquid ink. Digital printing is the way to go when lower quantities are needed; think of a run of 10 flyers or 100 brochures. Digital printing allows for variable data capability. When you need to personalize your materials.
While offset printing produces high-quality prints, most agents do not need large quantities of 500 or more, and the best solution is digital printing. See print specifications guide for recommended paper stock.
